Another Ozark Trail G.1 Explorer … so far loving being back in the saddle.

The long story is that I was spending a lot of time researching gravel bikes and looking at Diverge, Revolt and others and feeling very anxious about spending $1K+ on a new bike … it has been 20+ years since I’ve ridden more than 3 miles on any bike. Having now owned this for ~3 weeks I’m up to ~25 mile rides.

Front brakes needed some alignment and front derailleur required adjustment but otherwise good to go.

Minor changes so far …
– Rockbros pedals
– Frame bag
– Dropped the bottle cage on an extender (because I liked the frame bag so much)

I’m considering switching to a shorter stem … I’m 5’8” and I feel just a tad stretched out and I’m getting some pinky numbness. I’ve read that it may make the handling feel twitchy but I think it’s worthy of a try. Can the stem be too short?

For me, this is a great bike to relearn on and experiment with sizing adjustments. I have absolutely no idea if/when I’ll upgrade at this point.

PS: also loving the subreddit – an amazing array of people, bikes, scenic views and overall a very helpful community.

  1. I went with a 70mm stem and 68mm reach bars. AKA very short. It took all of 45 seconds to get used to the increased twitchyness.
