I finished my first metric century last month! π
My old heavy 26-inch MTB isn't the most suitable for long distances, but it was doable.
I have asthma, so I'm really happy I managed to complete the ride. When I first started cycling, I could barely go a few kilometers before running out of breath. I even threw up from exhaustion once after just a short ride β that's how bad my condition was back then. But with hard work, Iβve now completed 100 kilometers! Iβm happy of how far Iβve come.
Next goal: an imperial century! (Maybe? π )
Iβm thinking of getting a road bike for next summer to make long distance more enjoyable.

Congrats!
Big achievement!. As long as you are having fun.
Congrats! Keep up the good work. Do it again next month :-). I can fairly easily ride metric centuries. But I’ve done one imperial century and that seemed much harder than I expected. I don’t think I fueled enough.
18kph! On an old-school MTB! Overcoming asthma! Excellent! If everybody did this doctors would have to get real jobs.π
Go ride 5k tomorrow, slowly. Itβs called a recovery ride, and those rides help your muscles develop strength from the big ride you just did.
See you on the road. Iβll be the guy sitting in the cafe pretending to do a recovery ride.
