What with the wetter months fast approaching now and the coming changes in weather etc, What are some of the top tips for preparing my bikes for riding in the wetter months?

So far I’m planning on getting fenders/mudguards for my commuting bike (Red bike), front and rear lights for both bikes, other than that I’m looking to pick up some more grippy tires for my hardtail as once the weather gets too harsh I’ll be swapping to use it as my commuter instead of the road bike. I currently have some all weather lube for my chain but will be picking up some dedicated wet weather lube.

Anything else I’m missing?, as this will be my first autumn/winter season commuting by bike.

  1. One tip about lights: bying a set of Fenix brand bike lights, you can just buy an extra handlebar mount and one set of lights, then mount the light to whichever bike you’re riding. The rear one has a quick mount.

Fenders have big differences in how well they protect. If possible, going for full length ones is the best alternative.

You mention getting grippier tires to the hardtail, but my take on the matter is if you need more than those tires give, you’re talking about icy surfaces and in those conditions Suomi Tyres or Schwalbe studded tires will be your best friend.

Your plan sounds solid enough for the lubes etc., can’t really think of anything else to add.
