Looking to get my first real road bike and came across this. I know it’s an old Klein frame with upgraded parts but unsure if it’s worth the price tag and if I’ll get the performance I am looking for. Mostly looking to work my way up to 50 mile rides along with daily shorter yet faster rides. Lmk thoughts.

If you want something vintage and could use the tubulars this would be a good deal. If you don’t care about that you could get a more modern bike with normal road gearing that would probably serve you better.
This is a cool-ass bike for bike nerds, and it’s priced surprisingly well.
*But* if you don’t know what you’re getting into, I’d pass, especially considering it has tubular wheels.
It is a cool bike but might not be the best first bike. Tubular wheels are difficult to setup. Multi day glueup process. I generally would suggest a newer bike over a resto-mod.
No! LMAO
A 30 year old aluminum frame with a low end drivetrain and tubular wheels????
Fuuuuuck no
This is a parts bike
It’s a bargain for the right person, Klein have a cult following, and their paint is next level.
Personally, I’d get a pair of $100-300 clinchers and swap out the tubulars. This is an amazing frame, and 1x SRAM Apex is actually really great for beginners (that gearing will get you up any climb easily), but this is more of a “vibes” bike than a performance bike.
If you’re not wanting to spend too much cash, I’d look at another 2nd hand rim brake bike with 2x drive train and clinchers for around $1000. In my area, you can get really great, sub 7.5kg bikes for that price.
If you are willing to spend a bit more, this bike with different wheels and tyres will be a really great riding bike that will turn heads. I mean just look at that paint!
