Read the fine print carefully. It is not a replacement for proper insurance. Refusal to reimburse is very common with this coverage.

Many renter and homeowner policies will *actually* cover bike theft outside the home. Read yours before purchasing additional insurance.

  2. I haven’t tried being reimbursed for it (haven’t had a bike stolen yet), but do remember when I received a Kryptonite lock as a gift and went to register it as required for the insurance coverage, their coverage was much more limited in scope than I would have expected. You’ll need to read the details of this particular offer, but if I remember correctly the details on my lock were limited value replacement and coverage was for only one year after date of purchase.

The Kryptonite was a kind and thoughtful gift from my family, but it’s not what I’d choose to secure my ebike. I got a Litelok X1 instead.
