So a while ago I put this BMX bike (one in pictures)that I got as a gift from a friend of my father. I put it up for $200 because I didn't know how much it was worth but took it down after a few days out of guilt of selling a gift that I received. Then this guy on Nextdoor marketplace really want seemed to really want it. First offering "$50 more than my best offer", then to trade for his personal bike, then $400, then $500. Today he offered $500 and his bike in exchange for the BMX bike. I want to know how much the bike is worth and if I should take his offer both financially and morally.

I’d take the 5+trade if his bike is as nice or better. This bike is a little dated but has some cool stuff a very small crowd would love to have. Mainly the stem, cranks, and front wheel, not to mention the frame. Personally I’d love to have this bike because I started riding around when this would have been built, but it’s objectively worth maybe 4-500 outright.
Fuck I miss my Odyssey Elementary stem! This thing can absolutely be $500-$700. You got quite the fucking gift of a bike but if you have no interest or use for it, then I see no issue in selling it. Maybe check to see if they’d want it back but as far as I’m concerned, it was gifted to you making it yours to do as you please.
It’s a sick bike, he’s either planning to ride it or sell it piece by piece. Most of the parts are maybe 10 years old, maybe 15, but all great products and serviceable.
I would keep it and ride it but it doesn’t seem like you’re all the interested in the hobby. If you need the money you could get the 500 easy. You probably could part it out if you knew what the parts were for more but more time to do that. You could probably get 300 for the frame alone.
Dammm this is one of the best condition ridden frames I’ve seen in quite a long time.
this frame is in incredible condition for not being NOS. Honestly if you sold the frame on eBay or pink bike you could fetch $400 to$600 just for the frame maybe more depending on who wants it.
If I were you, I would buy a cheap Sunday complete and ride that. Hold on to this gem as long as possible. You will thank me later
Possibly welded by Clint Reynolds in the old days, I’m not sure of this exact frame but a lot of these og s&m bikes get up into the 1200-2500$ range on eBay
Frame looks to be a later model LAF made by S&M. I ride an early production of the same frame and it’s great. Lots of S&M collectors out there if you take the time to find the right buyer. The guy who wants it knows what you got and is trying his best to get it. Piece it out if you need the money.
