Was running that ratio before I moved to a new city where drivers drove a little crazier and the roads had unexpected elevations so I dropped down to 53/19 (2.79).
Once I get used to this place a bit better, I might bump up to a 51/17 (3.00). I don’t mind the lack of skid patches because I backpedal/pressure before needing to skid anyway.
If you’re fine running even-toothed cogs/rings then maybe you’d like 53/18 or 50/17 (both 2.94), 49/16 or 52/17 (both 3.06), or 48/16 (3.00).
