  1. When you use a burst of energy it’s called burning a match… but you only have so many matches to burn so use them wisely… when you past him was a perfect example of β€œburning a match”

I learned that in cycling, but use it in my running.

  2. Random stranger just trying to enjoy his weekend and run a race. Lemme post a video about him, w/o his permission, where I try to make him appear overconfident and inexperienced…

  3. Never ever look back, always go straight. He made a big mental mistake by worrying about others and the doubt crept in. If he was that fast he could have maintained it, but adrenaline can drop quick when you feel you may lose.

  4. The guy in front must be weak af if he runs out of speed just running a 5k lol. He kept overlooking if our guy is coming from behind..lol

  5. That’s exactly what I did as well
During my first race I tried to stay with everyone and that ended in me getting extremely tired and my lungs aching so hard that I couldn’t run and had to walk for a bit
It didn’t help that as soon as the gun was shot some asshole tripped my legs
And I know it had to be on purpose because my legs got like tangled instead of one just feeling like it lost footing

My first CC race I got 25:16 I think and it was hard
Then my latest one which is my second race I got 23:09 because I was able to find a good pace and let everyone in begin go in front and then along the half second-third mile I started to pass a lot of people

The course was weird so I thought I was about to finish when I still had around 250 meters left to run and I was sprinting so that killed me but at the last 100 meters I heard someone say β€œdo strides” to one of the other kids and I used that and became so SO much faster at the end

At that last 250 meter I forgot everything I learned, didn’t know how to breathe right, could run right, and pacing
But I still managed to make the 5k and now I just gotta shave off 2 more minutes so I can get back to where I used to be before I got pneumonia which was a 21:00 minute three mile

I’m in my third week of CC going into my first month of being in CC and my goal is to reach varsity in 1 more month

I have all my faith and hope to make it, with the adrenaline and motivation flowing through me I’m sure I’ll make it

  6. Great analogy for life. Don’t worry so much about others, only seek to break your limitations. (I never like the β€œgo at your own pace” as that can used to accept mediocrity saying that the same thing over and over is β€œyour own pace”).
