After a lengthy ride in the rain my freehub is refusing to spin. It's completely jammed.
Would my next step be to remove the cassette and freehub? I dont have a chain whip or cassette puller but I'd like to learn this stuff so I'll grab them if theyre needed.
Freehub stuck – won't spin in either direction

Yes. You need to remove the cassette if you want to access the freehub body. You need a lockring tool, a long handle wrench, and a chain whip/cog wrench.
Yes, remove the cassette, that’s easy, and buying the tools you need now will save you money in the future. Removing the freehub itself from the hub is a different thing, depending on the model. At its simplest, you will need cone spanners to remove the axle, then a 10mm Hex wrench(Allen key) to unscrew the free hub.
The freehub mechanism is likely broken.
