Chain on son's new mountain bike came loose and the rear derailleur isn't sitting right. How do I go about fixing this.

The chain isn’t follow the derailleur correctly. The chain just behind the gear cable should go around the bottom jockey wheel before going around the cassette (cogs).
Chain is on wrong. Should be routed like this:
