  1. Just looking for a general consensus from the only people that matter fellow bike nerds. After wasting time and money on a thrift store bike to get it shiny and fresh not much interest locally for a reasonable price point and its really bumming me out. I know it’s bad time of the year and maybe will just keep it to the spring and ride it till then. Perhaps old bikes are still too niche. But for the same price as a Walmart base model this bad boy seems to have no interest and its upsetting, the general public might overlook the old beauties. 🙁

specs 6sp Raleigh Safari mid 80s or so, upgraded to index/friction shifting big ole 48 up front, smooth AF ride enough get up and go its just a smooth city cruiser that broke my heart to see sitting in the thrift shop looking like a wreck.

Edit: like for full disclosure and no bad vibes, I picked this up with the intention of fixing it up and selling it for parts cost to share the hobby and get a nice old bike back on the roads. But if it’s ends up being a keeper that is okay too.

I think the fact that you’ve doubted it so much that you’re coming to Reddit for affirmation means you don’t deserve it.
