Going off of what comments I got on my last post, I have found more bikes. (I have a limited selection because of the options at my local bike shop) I am thinking about going the Trek Roscoe route after hearing some not great things about the Marlin line. (For context I currently ride a 2021 Giant ATX 26”)

Well considering that Giant has run brakes, it isn’t really suitable for serious trail riding. Maybe light xc at best.
The Roscoe is a solid bike which would handle trails much better.
Kona Honzo?
Roscoe is a fun hardtail that will take almost anything you throw at it. Pretty heavy for a trail bike but it’s meant to be tough. If you want someting similar level but lighter go for the Procalibers as they are XC bikes (not trail bikes. Not suited for jumps but meant to go really fast in the mountain).
That Giant bike is a toy bike at supermarket bike level. Much better to go to Decathlon entey bikes than that.
Bought a 23 roscoe 7 last summer . Been pretty solid so far
Bought a Roscoe 7 last week after a 12 year MTB hiatus. Every time I have ridden it it has put a smile on my face.
