I have the same backpack and it fits into the ortlieb back roller panniers. I just put my backpack into the pannier and leave the pannier on when I park my bike. I did put a little cable lock through the handle to lock it to the rack tho to keep opportunistic thieves from just grabbing it.

For that I would see about using one of those stout baskets on the rear and then securing it with a bungee or ratchet strap

Figure any thing more than a few lbs would make riding wonky when it’s secured so high up front

Have you considered something like the ortlieb downtown?

  3. not this specifically, but all of my cargo considerations are on the front. minus a typically-lightly-loaded saddlebag (and a trailer technically, but that’s kind of its own thing, it doesn’t feel at all like having rear racks tbh), i carry all of my baggage/cargo between the headset/handlebars and the leading edge of the front wheel.

imo it’s just preference. i don’t like the kind of tail-wagging flex that i feel with having rear racks, but i don’t mind having less twitchy (to heavy, when loaded. obv.) steering.
