Someone recently broke into our apartment garage and stole a bike. A few days later, my mom and I are planning on biking and we find this device attached to the side. Google says it’s a bike activity tracker that tracks speed and stuff, but it doesn’t say if it tracks location or not. I’m worried because I don’t know what it is. Does anyone know what it is or why someone would attach it to my mom’s bike?

It’s an old speed sensor – it won’t do anything more than speed.
Highly unlikely to be a GPS tracker. It uses a magnet on a spoke and tracks speed that way
My brother has the exact same speed sensor
Yep, speed sensor. Had the same 15 years ago.
It wirelessly transmits the speed the wheel is turning to a bike computer mounted to the handlebars 2 or 3 feet away. It’s useless for tracking, no need to worry.
Does your mom’s bike have a speedometer that doesn’t work now? If so you should put it back, if not it’s fine to remove it.
