Hi All, thank you for reading. I have 2 tm-1 and discovered the difference. My older one read 1 unit higher whether for aero spoke or non aero one.
My observation, the new one has 2 spring revolutions and adjustment screw is adjusted longer while the older one has 3 spring revolutions but shorter screw. New one fells harder when trying to press to measure.
Should I try to adjust the adjustment screw?

  1. These gauges aren’t perfect and you’re bound to see differences between two, even if they were tensioned or dialed in exactly the same.

When I first got into wheel building I was annoyed to find that testing the same spoke tension multiple times with the same gauge would give me different values. I think there’s just an inherent error with these devices.

That said, the new one could reasonably be more accurate due to having more recently been calibrated.
