You are aware it is against the law to cycle on the pavement if you Google the Highway Code you will find this .
Is it against the law to cycle on pavements? Yes, it is against the law to cycle on pavements in the UK. It states under the Highway Code Rule 64 that as a cyclist, you must not cycle on the pavement. This is also backed up by law, under the Highway Act 1835, and Roads (Scotland) Act 1984.

You're lucky that wasn't a Blandford Fly. A bite from one of those can give you a limp for days, and they're VERY painful.

Used to tour the Continent by Motorbike each year for about 12yrs in the 80's/90's – and often got bee & wasp stings in my helmet (if your visor was up) or up your sleeves . . . . . . Its the hazards of two-wheels i suppose

There's benn a lot of comment on here re this being a shared path If like me you're watching this on a mobile phone you can only see the bottom of a blue sign very briefly in the top right hand corner Blink and you'll miss it I had to watch three times before I saw it So yes it was a shared path but your response to those who've missed it is OTT

Why is mister perfect riding on the footpath?
My wife got stung recently, but her arm was hanging out of the car window and clearly it was just bad fortune that it got unintentionally smacked at speed and responded in kind. Assuming this is a similar situation at lower speed, I take it it was already crippled before you put your foot in?

That's a small victory for us phone using drivers. Just a small one but we'll take whatever we can get. The wasp was simply acting on our behalf.

Cycling in flip flops is dangerous – my friend's son had his toenail ripped off as the flip flop got caught. May I suggest you wear some kind of better sturdier footwear to prevent injury. Apparently A&e said it hapoens quite a lot.

Hi Mike. I am sorry about the wasp or stinging insect. They can be painful and challenging. In the video I think I saw flip flops on the feet. If I did not see flip flops, please disregard the following. On a bicycle please wear study bike shoes for your foot protection. I know in summer they are a bit hot, but when you have to do sudden stops or worse get feet in the spokes you will be grateful for study shoes. You do not want injury or infection to your feet if it is preventable. Again, if I am wrong please call me out. As a diabetic I must take care of and really safeguard my feet. This is top priority as I do not want foot amputation that might come from severe foot injury and infection. This would probably end my cycling career. What you do for safety is fantastic. Distracted driving is a huge problem worldwide, not only for bicyclist, but for other road users. You are appreciated. Carry on.
