Picked it up this weekend, finally scratching my need for a vintage celeste Bianchi. Still going to do a little work on it (Brooks B17 in tan, white bar tape, saddle holster for U-lock, new tires since the LBS said the front tire is “wonky” and throwing off the balance), but it’s mostly exactly what I’ve been craving for myself.
Currently has Campy derailleur & downtube shifters, Universal brakes, 3TTT bars and stem, Mavic Module E rims, and Avocet / Bianchi branded saddle.

J/K but I’m running 39/32 on my ’89 Campione D’Italia using a 3rd-gen Campy Rally long cage derailleur with a JTek Shiftmate and an XT cassette, and even that can be challenging on the steeper climbs. I just can’t fathom how those guys managed with that kind of gearing back then.

Love it. But I approve of the saddle/tape changes. Celeste is a lovely color but the entire thing doesn’t need to be Celeste.

Wow. That blows doors off the used Bianchis around my parts.I really like that saddle, though…

Nice looking bike. However the bar tape should be wrapped bottom to top. That way the tape edge “shingles” over itself, and prevents your hands from possibly rolling down the does.

Amazing. I bought that exact bike new at age 15 in 1983 for $525 at Menlo Velo in Menlo Park, CA. Looks pretty original except the seat, bar tape and tires.
