Is it possible to be safe and find some peace while living in a canal boat in the middle of a busy city? I find out this week as I moor in one. I also have a visit from the marine surveyor to see if our narrowboat is sea worthy. Sit back, relax and enjoy take care. 🌻🦋
This week, I meet @NarrowboatPreciousJet which a a great vlog about boat renovation and life afloat

I was very happy for Zeph finding a free tennis ball, but easy come, easy go. The worm trickery was hilarious! But Vanessa, why didn't you help? 🙂
The only thing I wouldn’t like would be the tea drinking. But everything else seems really very good!
Does Zephyr have a Life Jacket, too?
the reina is shining. and zeph. lol. thank you for doing this. I look foward to it each week.
Thank you for your wonderful channel. You have a wonderful demeanor and calmness. Will you sell copies of your diary at some points?
Hi Vanessa
Zephyr has a beautiful collar again and of course the ball she always carries with her.
congratulations for you that you passed the test.
Such an interesting episode. I always feel happier after watching.
congratulations on passing inspection and getting the go ahead. i absolutely love your channel, i shamelessly use this as a calming down tool. i am living vicariously via your gorgeous Narrowboat. i am quite near Manchester and i hope you enjoy your time here. Blessings and hugs to Zephyr 💖
Your creative narrative, video and journal bring so much joy. I am right there with you. If I lived in England I would be on a boat and meet you for a cuppa and a chocolate slice. My shout.
I live in Chester and when I was a Teenager Myselfe and a group of friends hired a boat from Deans marina in Rowton and traveled to llangolen great memory
I love finding the places you go on the map.
For you, Vanessa
There once was a hungry foxglove bee,
Who stopped the church clocks at half past three,
So we could all sit down with honey for tea,
Alice Grace, Zephyr, you and me,
We talked of adventures we haven't done,
Aboard Alice Grace for years to come,
To Chester's Walled City, we had to run,
To see the Misket ball's tower that shone,
Oh, sweet willow shade us from the sun, " I'll bring the breeze to spur you on,"
So before the rain, the Herring gulls trance, like a Red Indian worrior,
he performs his battle dance,
Then, on the way to our friend Tom,
We wished him good tidings for the things he'd done,
Then, on down the lane, we left with a blessing,
" we'll see you again, on Narrow Boat Cressy,
With my captain to helm, what more could be shown?
Why! A beautiful sunset to guide us safe home.
Once again, Vanessa, thank you for a lovely video . Xx❤
I love your videos, they are so quite and peaceful that I have fallen asleep, not to worry, I just rewind and watch what I missed.
It is interesting being an American who is interested in the UK canals & who knows who LTC Rolt is; we're not exactly the largest demographic on the continent. 😆 On a bookshelf in the other room is a special anniversary paperback edition of his 1940-something book. Y'all do have a special thing with those canals, can honestly call it a national treasure, It is good to see them preserved and used. And especially good to see some active restoration of disused canals, even moreso when new construction is done to aid the restoration. EDIT: interesting how that parcel locker works. Ahh! That looks like same edition of book that I have.
Hmm, wonder how many worms that herring gull has to successfully trick in order to replace the calories expended in tricking worms?
Vann, That was a lovely vlog. Superb editing! We watch several narrowboat vlogs and as nice as they all are, yours stands above them all. Your vlogs are art.
Queens Park Suspension bridge brings to mind how interesting it is to see all the different designs of cast iron and wrought iron bridges over the canals, the rivers, and even the railways.
I dunno, it is a good bet that stressing about getting the Inspector's Tick would give me a tic. 🤔
Beautiful Vlog 😊
Hi could you tell me the name of the pencil set you have love the content thanks.
Amazing what you find on a Sunday night on an iPad. Thanks
Vanessa another lovely vid..xx
Thanks for another beautiful vlog Vanessa. I'm so happy that you passed the test to go on the Manchester Ship Canal. Looking forward to seeing that.
I love your attention to detail and the mix of history, nature, and domesticity. The scale of your observations from the minuscule to the massive and your calm empathy are very restorative.
That Heron Gull was Jive walking Vanessa , I heard the song when he was waking or trying to wake the worms .
I've been to Chester Zoo a long time ago and it was nice even then.
What was that Parade about. I'd guess it was about the people there loving were they live.
I hope that knowing all these people turn up to watch your Vlog makes you happy Vanessa , seems only fair as you make us happy when we watch.
Your hair is looking beautiful and long and I loved the Hippy Top you wore when you drew in your Diary.
Great vlog ,your knowledge and your poetry never get bored watching your vlogs
Gutted I missed you when you stayed in my home town. Would have loved to have shown you and zephyr around. Just a little FYI the bridge you said was city road bridge is actually Northgate street bridge, and the bridge of sighs is just beyond it.
I've never seen a duck like that before. Wow what a stunner.
Yay. Certificate now completed. On to new adventures. So exciting.
What a beautiful area you're in. So much to see and do xx
Hello love! Beautiful as ever. I've never seen a seagull do that before..Love from Van. Isle.
Another wonderful video thankyou – your kingfisher top jolted me to write and celebrate that at last I saw a KF this year, perched and then swoop on a low level run along the Aylesbury arm. Like being blessed by a sunset in memory of loved ones, my late father always said if we ever saw a kingfisher it was him giving a fleeting flutter from the afterlife
Hello Vanessa, I just wanted to say a special thank you 😊for your lovely reply to my poems. I'm glad you like them and hope they give you joy.
I'm no poet and take care when writing, not to embarrass or offend.
Your videos inspire me and are a pleasure to listen to. Once again, thank you. Take care, Andrew xx❤
Hi Vanessa hope you and your fur bear 🐻 are keeping well love watching your videos keep smiling 🙂
Such a beautiful vlog. Your filming, amazing knowledge of nature, beautiful drawings, calm narration etc.😊

This was brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed your video and the nature journal at the end was a beautiful surprise.
Hiya
Please tell me you keep your journal in a fire proof safe 🙄🌝
Another lovely journey. My favorite time is your journaling at the end of the day. Twice I have now been able to guess what bird or part of the journey you will focus on. Delightful. From New Jersey.
What a good vlog different speed of life but still found that bird worm treading how wonderful to see 👍
Zeph how posh with your bright red lead 🐾🐾💕

Hi Vanessa I am looking for a particular vlog to send to a friend it is when you visited Edith Holdens House, I have trawled your playlists but I can't find it. Could you let me know the title and date so I can better search for it Thanks x
Hello Mindful Narrowboater; That was amazing seeing a herring gull performing worm trickery; it could have been put to music. I think you're very brave venturing on to the tidal waters of the Manchester Ship Canal; I'm sure it will all be fine. Pete Glyde
Thank for the Tom Rolt story. Rolt is to the canals what Wainwright is to the fells and hiking. Great video…is it me or ar they getting better?
Thanks Vanessa, for taking us along on this lovely cruise and visit to Chester, it looked like you and Zephyr like it as she found a new ball and got a new lead. As always your journal is beautiful. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Vanessa, in a world gone mad, your videos bring calm and beauty!!! Thank you
I've only watched 3 of your videos. With that in mind, are all the canals muddy?
I just love the restoration and re-use of places built long ago and and their re-use as places for a very different purpose now. At the moment i am watching a couple of Your Vid's on this topic, that feature this fact while feel very mellow watching the beauty of the canal and surronds while taking it all in. At the same time i'm listening to the CD 'The best of the Midnight Oils', and having a glass or 3 of wine, it is about 10pm here in Sydney, a big shout out to you and thanks loads for a very pleasant evening…………Cheers and thanks again from Sydney!!
