I've been having a blast riding and going down the rabbit holes of learning about the hobby over the last couple of months. And now that I know I'm committed, I'm ready to invest in my equipment. More safety gear and a dropper are first on my list but before I pull the trigger on a dropper, should I be looking to change bike?

I bought a Sensa Sella Evo 29" hardtail back in 2021. However, I didn't really get around to riding it until this year. I've no real complaints (maybe a bit stiff over rocky stuff), but I also haven't ridden anything better to know what I'm missing out on and what my weaknesses are vs the bike not being as suitable as it could be. And there seems to be little info or reviews for the bike online. Here are the specs.

I'm based in Spain, mostly riding (very) rocky dirt trails and public roads for a couple of hours at a time. I'm surrounded by mountains so I'm constantly climbing or descending.

The Norco Fluid FS A4 29" and the Giant Trance X 2 29" are two bikes I've been looking at in the sub 2000 euro price bracket. Both found in the buying guide by @219MTB. I'd consider hardtail options too, but I'd probably keep my current bike and use them both.

Any advice on what my current bikes weak points are for my needs, and what I should be looking to do?

If you have options to rent a bike for a day or two, that can help you see what you’re missing out on, or whether you really care. But it’s a hobby, so the only questions that really matter are

    * can you afford it for your hobby?
    * do you want it enough to pay for it?

Personally I enjoy full suspension bikes much more than hardtails. They’re more comfortable and don’t punish you as much if your technique isn’t perfect.
