Been using this setup on my commute rides to work (roughly 28 mile round trip) and it’s been fun. The idea was to get to work fast while carrying my essentials: laptop, cables/charger, lunch, extra clothes, mini pump, tire kit, multi-tool, and small self defense items.

I researched many options for rear racks because the Diverge doesn’t have mounting points on the seat stay/seat tube. Ended up with the Ortlieb Quick Rack because it’s cheap, easy to install, and I can use it interchangeably on my other bikes. There were other options like Tailfin, but it was too costly.

I keep my laptop, cables, extra clothes, and lunch in the Ortlieb panniers. I thought about buying only one, but the weight distribution was off when I tried it.

The frame bag and top tube bag is from Outer Shell – love the quality and storage. I keep pepper spray, a knife, mini pump, snacks, and more in them.

I have recently added a front handlebar bag from Outer Shell (not shown) as well to store my camera.

This setup is still a work in progress, but it does the job so far. Would love to hear your suggestions!

  1. Also, I tried the whole backpack thing and that was horrible. Tried to pack my laptop, extra clothes, and camera gear and it was just too much weight on my back. Didn’t help that when I showed up to work, my back was drenched because of the trapped heat from the backpack.
