As the title states, I was at the start line of a century event recently. When we all set off I felt like I immediately had a chain drop, but instead it was my rear derailleur that basically broke in 2 pieces.
Bike is about 3 years old, well cared for. Not sure how this could have happened. I rode my bike from the parking lot to the starting line and even shifted to get there. No impact on anything.
Just curious as how this could have happened. So far, I’ve received 3 different explanations from 3 different bike mechanics.
Any thoughts?
