Ok so my daughter has started riding her bike and it’s been a great bonding experience. Long story short, I wanted another bmx bike to cruise with her and use for cardio. I used to ride bmx when I was little. I got a good deal on a Kink drifter (2022) but it’s a 26” with a TT 22.5 and it feels almost unbearable. When I bought the bike I knew it was a little bigger than what I rode back in the day but thought I could still swing it and fakie etc.
I’m 5’6 210lbs and somewhat athletic. Question is, should I just sell this one and get a smaller bike? Or just hang onto it and accept the fact that this one would just be used for cruising? Money is tight at the moment.

  1. It’s still useful as its intended purpose, cruising around, sat down single speed that’s a bit more rugged than a fixie. But like anything depends how much use you got out of it. Bikes sales are through the floor right now, so you may not get a good return on it second hand, but the flipside is you can still buy a new 20” wheel for not insanity money.

  2. I did the same thing as you. Also 5’6. Bought this without realizing how big it is. My local shops do not sell cruisers. Love the bike though and great for longer distances. I wanted something smaller for riding with the kids and to throw in the back of a hatchback though. I ended up buying a used 20in on Craigslist as a second ride. Now love both for different situations

  3. I have the Kink Drifter 26 to cruise and can still hop curbs and am working on manuals and fakies (getting back into it after a 30 year break) but I also picked up a DK Vega 22 for more “fun stuff”.
