While restoring this 2000 Gary Fisher Marlin, I removed the fork to service it and the upper bearing cage with its bearings has gone missing.
As you can see in the photograph, it is an a Aheadset. It is a simple straight steer tube, but when I put lower 24 ball bearing cage inside the Aheadset upper cup it seemed to fit.
When I first removed the fork, the grease on the bearings, looked like it had turned to sand. The sensible thing is to order a new pair.
How do I measure them?
How are they sized?
Thanks.

Personally, i would use a micrometer. Though, for those who dont have those, a set of calipers would work. Or bring it to your lbs, and they can set you straight. Someone might come along and know the correct size offhand, but that’s not me.
