Takazumi Katayama’s 1980 RG500 2-stroke start-up

In this video we see Takazumi Katayama’s 1980 Suzuki RG500 Mk5 (498cc square four cylinder two stroke engine).

Power on this bike is estimated at 120bhp.

This machine was raced by Takazumi Katayama for the first five rounds of the 1980 Championship whilst he was waiting for the Honda NR500 to be ready. The only points he scored in that year’s championship were on this bike.
