If dog owners need to pick up their pets shit, horse owners should have to do the same thing.

Crinkled aluminum foil IS lighter, and fully recyclable. It also gives you a ‘Tin Foil Hat’ accessory for Halloween. 👻 win-win-win.

Nalgene and Elite have caps that cover the whole top. I used Nalgene for years.
Bend Oregon has LOTS of dogs. Don’t put a bottle on the bottom of your down tube. No gagging allowed here, so don’t ask me why….

  4. Polar makes bottles with removable caps similar to camelbak podiums. Either will do. You can also use a plastic baggie (sandwich bag) and hold it on with a rubber band from your produce as well.

  5. Bivo makes optional dust caps for their bottles – I’ll put them on for rides that I know will be dry and dirty. Bonus points for going largely plastic-free.

    Dawn to Dusk Dirt Mask.

The dirt mask thingy can go on any water bottle with a standard cap (won’t fit Zefal Magnum and other non-standard designs).

It works very well and covers the whole drinking cap. The Camelbak podium and others with the small caps only cover where you put your lips…not enough IMHO. I’ve had my bottles covered in muck and mud and god knows what else…opened the Dirt Mask and drinking cap was clean.

Caution: The drinking cap on Dawn to Dusk bottles themselves is an “always open” type, so you don’t need to pull it open. This sounds good, but unfortunately have found they leak like crazy and the caps don’t seal well AT ALL on to their own fucking bottles. The caps are also hard plastic and brittle…if you drop your bottle on a hard surface the cap will break.

So, just get the dirt mask.

  7. When it is wet, I just snap a Portland design Works origami mud guard to the front of my down tube and that keeps my bottles clean. I mostly use a Hydro flask, but I also have these Camelback bottles that have caps that fit over the mouthpiece.
