
As title, just a shower thought really. I think probably bikes run narrower rims we expect to be industry standard (like 25mm is norm), where most new bikes with the same 2.4" tyres will come with 35mm.

That’s supposedly why many WC DH teams still run 25mm, because there’s less of a chance of flats. I disagree that most new bikes come with 35mm, rather it seems like 30mm is the current “standard” for mtb.
I have a set of 22mm rims on an XC bike and that’s too narrow, 2.4″ tires get squirmy and burp unless I run high pressures. Most WC XC teams are running 30mm rims and 2.4″ tires with low pressures now. Seems like the sweet spot is 25-30mm for up to 2.5″ tires.
