if i remember correctly alot of these techniums have those reversed spring canti brakes (not sure if there is a technical term for them) which you cant really find anymore. i personally wouldnt restore a bike if i knew i could never replace the brakes.
also i kind of just hate these old aluminum techniums.

The brakes the other poster is referring to are the chainstay-mounted U-brakes. U-brakes are still made and sold, mostly on BMX bikes, it’s not a problem. Nothing wrong with them.
The fronts are standard cantilevers.
Yeah, the bike is worth a good restore. The parts are decent quality. The bike just needs a good cleaning up and going over and tune-up. Lots of rust to address.
