I am also looking to schedule in a bike fit at my LBS in the next few weeks but just want to get random people on the internet thoughts on it before I go.
Was gifted a Canyon Ultimate CF8 Medium, which I believe is a 56 size frame by my brother in law. The bike was too wee for him and mainly used it as his winter bike.
I’m 178cm tall (5’10”), with an inseam of 81.5 (32″)
The bike is considerably better than what I have been riding but I think it might just be a bit too big. The canyon PPS puts me on small, but changing my height slightly puts me on medium. So it appears I’m in between sizes? Possibly?
Standing over the top tube with my shoes on, there’s about a couple of CMs of space, without my shoes, balls are touching the top tube.
Saddle can’t go any higher as my wee legs won’t reach the peddles. I do feel a bit stretched out but tbh I’ve never had a bike like this before so I don’t really know.
Pic isn’t great, but the best I could do as I don’t have a woohoo kickr or similar.
Thoughts? As I say, I am getting a proper bike fit in the next few weeks.

So you went through their guide for sizing, put your measurements and it tells you size S. Then you changed the measurements you put in and you got size M. And now you think Canyons sizing is wrong and that you’re right…..sure, makes sense.
