    Derailleur shocks in lowest gear. Is my chain too long?

      I swear, there are at least 3 or 4 daily posts in this subreddit that are this exact problem of not properly adjusting B tension screw.

      B limit screw adjust. If maxed out you need a different derailleur or add a road link.

      I’m no mechanic, but shouldn’t that derailleur be extended more when it’s on the largest gear?

      B screw is definitely the rescue here. But since OP started talking about chain length, I also think when it comes to replacing a chain, people tend to just slap on the new one as is, without first putting it next to the old chain and shorten it to the same number of links.
