S Works bike with the handlebar phone mount and skate shoes, interesting choices there.

  2. Glad he’s okay?

Hardtail – he is the shock. Just seeing this snippet, he was on the seat like an easy Sunday morning and hit a dip and bump-be-ole, bee pow, crash. Hope he realizes MTN biking is fun 🙂 and kept going..

  3. Was this his first time mountain biking ?? For fucks sake, did you not tell him he can’t just stay seated on the bike as he barrels it down hill ? it’s a 100% guarantee you either get bucked off, or you just go OTB as soon as you need to brake aggressively.

You’re either a bad friend, or you’re not a particularly deep thinker (sorry, someone needs to say it).

I don’t care if my friend told me he was a gold medalist DH racer… The moment I see someone on a trail sitting on their seat like this, I will stop them and explain the utter basics of being on a mountain bike, unless I’m a sadist who enjoys seeing someone get a life changing spinal injury (which I’m not).

  4. Hope he’s OK!

Next time you take a mate out on your bike, spend a bit of time coaching them on how to ride.

Even a small change can make a huge difference. He was fully sat down on a seat too low which didn’t help. Also, ride ahead of them if they are a new rider – that way you can moderate their speed into features.

  5. Looks like he grabbed a handful of front brake! Glad he’s okay! Hopefully the bike will be okay.

You’re a good buddy too… you checked on your friend before inspecting your bike.

  8. Here’s my two cents: if you’re on a ride with a beginner, they shouldn’t lead. There is some value in watching them ride and giving them pointers, but I think it’s more important for them to see a more experienced rider clear obstacles and at what speed.
