Checking to see what this community thinks I should do. Apologies if I should not ask for value here, but was wondering what this might be worth. I have this Specialized Allez bicycle that was my dad’s sometime in the 80’s. Not sure if this is a sought after frame or anything. Definitely willing to sell to someone who would appreciate it. Would consider fixing up, if not a ton of money, like more than it’s worth or something, that I couldn’t do myself. Likely needs new tires, but are the wheels still worth using these days?

It’s a good bike to fix up and ride.
Mount new tyres and see if it works (it probably does) and have fun.
You can probably sell it for 100$. I didn’t check if the frame is particularly expensive but I suspect its not. The gears are high quality but not in demand at all.
Ride it. It’s the best value you’ll get. I bet it’s a pretty fantastic ride.
It’s a cool bike—I think it’s an 1986 or 87 ish Jim Merz Edition Specialized Allez. I have one as well.
It probably won’t be worth all that much. if I had to guess, 4-500 tops—but it’s one of those niche things where the right buyer has to come along and really be into it and you’d have to wait a while to get that price. Fwiw i paid 210 for mine and it was just frame, fork, headset, bb, and seat post.
Shouldn’t be hard to get up and running again! I’d say if you repack all the bearing, new tires & tubes (assuming the wheels are clinchers), new cables, and chain, it’d cost ~150ish bucks for the parts.
Old road bikes are fun to cruise around on!
This would have been a pretty good road bike back in the day. I’m not sure if it’s particularly collectible any more than a comparable Trek, Fuji, or similar large brand of the time, but just based on parts and frame I think you could certainly get $100 for it, but might be able to get $200 in a normal market and maybe $300 in a hot market.
But if you fit and are interested in cycling, it would be worth fixing up and riding.
is that a campagnolo shamal wheel under the cover? if so, those are sought after
Man you find something like gold. I can’t say a price for selling it but I would be willing to pay 1500€ for it if everything works. I recommend you to check it if it is safe to use, refresh it and use it yourself. Amazing piece you have over there!
