About 1/3 through a 75 miler. Unbeknownst to me my front tire was losing air and almost flat. Took a left turn on a paved path and the front tire just skidded out and down I went. Now I see why it’s easier to bandage shaved legs!
Let me guess, your first thought was how was the bike?
It looks like it could always have been worse. All things considered, that isn’t too bad. Going to be annoying for a while during healing.
I haven’t had any spills taking skin like that in a while but I remember using the product second skin when I did. I also found that I developed an allergic reaction to neosporin after using it to help healing. Had to switch to polysporin ever since then.
When I raced for a year in college I started shaving. With the miles and racing nearly every day I knew it would only be a matter of time before I went down. And being hairy like you I knew dealing with bandages would be much less painful with no hairy legs.

Go get some Tegaderm. It’s the best for roadrash.

Take this as a big hint to shave your legs. Start with a beard trimmer (set to close) then use a razor. You will “miss” and leave nicks on your legs. Why do this? Pulling sticky bandages off healing skin hurts almost as much as the road rash.

Tegaderm is 100% the best dressing for that road rash on your knee. Use it!

Left side crash gang!
I don’t know why, but it’s left side every time.

Right of passage – congrats! As long as you and your bike are ok of course.
