I’m thinking of buying a Trek Emonda SL6 Pro for $1400 on Marketplace. It includes upgraded Zipp 202 carbon wheels and a Shimano Ultegra R8000 groupset. Do you think it’s a good deal? I’d love to hear your opinion.”
Cool bike for sure. I still really love the mechanical rim brake 11 speed stuff by Shimano. It may be the best mechanical rim brake group set ever.
How familiar are you with carbon wheels and rim brakes? If the answer isn’t ‘very familiar’ this might not be the bike for you. A brake track on carbon rims is problematic. Not something that can’t be overcome, but it takes additional care to ride that bike. If care is not taken, its becomes a safety issue.
$1400 is chill for that bike. If I were you though, I’d hold out for disc brakes. The entire industry is moving(moved) that way.
