I finally managed to get my Vitus new clothing, I know I got the kas Carbone Kevlar and it’s wrong because it’s a dura 979 aluminum, but it’s more of tribute kind of situation and I love the look of this one so much!!

Beautiful bike! You can do whatever you want with the decals 🙂
The first time I saw a 979 was a blue frame just like that, now if only I could find it in 61cm…

As a kid the guys in the local shop that I hung around in offered to let me ride an orange one of these but I was too scared to take them up on the offer.

Wasn’t there an issue with the aluminum forks failing catastrophically? We used to call them the “Fork of Death” in the shop I worked at in the mid-1980s.

I used the Vitus for 5 years averaging 300 miles per week. My riding partner rode a Bob Jackson. The bike was super light and comfortable. I got tired of it though because there was just too much flex grinding up hills. I tried the Bob a number of times and Columbus steel tubing was incredibly stiff. A jarring ride yet what a huge difference in power transfer to the wheel. It took more human power to keep pace with the Vitus. I remember the Vitus was the official bicycle of the U. S. Women’s Criterium Racing Team. I was just light enough (152 lbs./69.9 kg) to ride it hence the noticeable flex. If it works for you then enjoy a really light and cool looking ride.
