It’s his opinion, but I tend to agree with you.
Traditionally, stem, bars and seatpost matched the group. You have a silver crankset, but black other parts. I would prefer silver parts all around, but it could go either way with no problem.
It’s your bike, not your buddie’s bike, do what you want. I think it would look nice too.

Go for it with the silver stem and seatpost. Like yours, groupset is still black but it still works.
silver is awesome, get the r7000 silver 105 groupset to really go bling.
