Looking at replacing my disc brakes due to some issues. I'm going with the Shimano Deore 6100 series and since I may need to cut the hose, I'm looking at what tools I may need.
I obviously don't want to pay $150+ CAD for the Shimano TL-BH62, so I'm wondering if the cut & set tool at bicyclecomponents.ca (link provided) is any good, if I need any specialty tool at all, or if the Shimano tool is the only way to go.
Any help would be much appreciated!

I’m pretty sure I have a similar / basically the same tool from Amazon and it worked completely fine. Im sure it will hold up to a few uses a year no problem.
I use a Park Tool one that is similar. This one looks fine. Don’t rush the process and the chances of screwing it up are minimal.
I have this exact one (from bikecomponents.ca), no issues with it. Does the job it needs to do, but I’ve only done 3 or 4 brake installs using it.
Just get good cable cutters? If you want park tool branded ones it’s CN-10, but otherwise most DIY stores will carry something similar. Don’t get the cheapest one, but $30 should get you a well adjusted set that’ll leave a straight cut and go through hydraulic housing like butter
The proper tool is great and all, but I just use a nice sharp utility blade to make as straight a cut across the hose as possible, clamp with a [hose clamp](https://www.ebay.com/itm/114762034495?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=FfrQ3aCETY-&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=A25dLqwgRr-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY), and I gently tap in the barb with a rubber mallet. Done this a dozen times, never once had an issue.
