  1. I’m looking to restore this bike, but I am torn between fully restoring it or keeping in its original condition and just cleaning it up.By fulling restoring it, I mean, have the frame resprayed and the logos redone. New saddle (Brooks), having the rust removed from the rims etc. Pretty much look to restore it to near new condition. I just wonder by respraying the frame will that detract too much from the original bike or enhance a fine example of 1930s cycling history.

PS, I’ve already removed the non original reflectors, in case you where wondering šŸ™‚

  2. This era bike is not my area of expertise, but I’d say this is a good candidate for a full restoration.

    Two reasons:

    * 1. It looks to be complete, down to every nut and bolt, so you won’t be scouring eBay and forums for parts.

    * 2. The condition is rough, *way* past “patina” and in to tetanus territory. A an object with patina has a sense of history that adds to the character, and arguably is worth preserving. This would be much better with a full restoration.

May want to pri e it out before you get started though, repaint is $ and re-chrome is $$

I generally look at patina as a well earned trophy, I would go for full restoration on this one- but you have to ride it!

  4. This is a real gem. Restore it how you like. As long as you maintain the same parts and get rid of some of the rust. There are different schools of thought about keeping the patina or repainting, but I say do what you think best.
