  1. Just remember that the drops aren’t there, or you’ll end up kissing the bar, then the road.

Tbh, if you don’t use the drops, this is a valid and useful (better aero, less weight) mod.
Aerobars are better for aero anyway, too.

I spend 20-25% of every ride in the drops. Going fast isn’t important to everyone, and that’s okay, but townie bars are a thing that exist.

I’m always on the drops during a decent, it’s just safer having a lower center of gravity. But of course, if you’re in Florida or any other flat area then it’s not really needed. Even Durianrider said to be in the drops when he was reviewing that female cyclist that crashed while decending a corner on her aero bars.

Flashback to the 1990s Claudio Chiappucci did this for some of his bikes in the climbing-intense races/stages (TDF etc). Although it never caught on, possibly becase it’s not so great for tucking into extened descents down the big cols when a lowdown grip on the bars is more useful.

My 2 cents is if I paid for it, I’m allowed to do whatever the hell I want to it. I like having drops because that’s where my bar end mirror is most visible, but I literally never use them to grasp the handlebar. Just feels weird.
