This Diamond Back bike was listed for $100. I can't read the other writing on the frame so I'm unable to recognise the model.
The listing says: "DiamondBack vintage. works. shimano hardware. bike seat, pannier mount, water bottle holder, lights"
Would anyone know what specific model it is? I'm looking for a lightweight commute bike that I can also take on light off-road trips. Would this be a good fit?

Maybe try offering them $75 and see what they say. It will do good on roads and be fine for gravel roads/ light smooth trails as far as off road goes. Those old Diamondbacks were built well so it should be reliable. Whatever bike you end up with have fun riding!
Additionally to what aggropunx said I’d try offering 50 with the plan of settling on 75
