    Clicking/creaking noise when pedaling hard

      Hi guys, could you help me indentify where the clicking noise is coming from?

      Bike is clicking when I’m pedaling (riding uphill, accelerating) and especially when riding off the saddle (then there is also loud creak). When I’m not putting much power into pedals and pedaling fluently, it’s fine.

      Things I (probably) ruled off:

      Saddle (especialy loud when riding off the saddle)

      Pedals (changed pedals while ago, didn’t help)

      Wheels (I have new wheelset)

      Shoes (tried with different shoes)

      I put the bike into bikeshop, they said, thats it’s probably bottom bracket, but when they checked the bike, they said it’s the wheelset. They changed the Wheels, and said, that bottom bracket is probably fine, and that they cleaned it and regreased it, but didn’t change it. I also asked them to check, if all the screws and whatever are tightened correctly.

      There was definitely something wrong with the wheels, because most of the noise was gone, but this clicking noise remained and got much worse since.

      To my ear it sounds like bottom bracket creak.

      If the sound gets worse when out of the saddle, that eliminates saddle/seatpost.

      Does the sound seem to synchronize with anything in your pedal stroke? For example, can you recreate the creak when the crank arm is in a specific position, or when you apply a certain amount force to the crank?

      Try doing a track stand while holding the brakes and apply force to the crank arms in different positions (12/6 o’clock, 3/9, etc) to see if you can reliably recreate the creak.

      Not sure which bottom bracket system is used on your bike, but if it’s model with the cartridge bearings held in by clips, you might want to see if you can find a replacement threaded model.
