It’s very rare that you will ride on closed roads, so learning how to ride with awareness of other road users is important. Keep yourself safe by giving yourself space while also offering consideration to other road users. Clear hands signals and calls will make people aware of your intentions.
Finally – don’t jump red lights. It’s not just illegal, it’s dangerous!

Thanks for the vid it was helpful for my work
You can tell you used to be a police officer Matthew! I've only ever heard the word 'ascertain' used by the police! Ha ha
I follow all these rules, I stop at stop signs but nobody else does, I still smoke them anyways cause they're slow and obviously don't know how to use brakes or read the big red signs
thank you
This is so unsafe…not even riding on the right side of the road 😜
Riding toward the edge is a very bid idea, as it invites motorists to try to squeeze by. If there is no oncoming traffic, they will have no problem passing you when you are in the center of the lane, and will actually give you a wider berth. Also, you should not just signal to other cyclists, but to motorists. Even if you are telling them to wait until it's safe to pass, they will appreciate that you are paying attention to them rather than ignoring them.
Here is another rule don't try and ride quickly through a pedestrian crossing when a pedestrian is crossing the road
I really forgot people out of America ride on the left lane.
It's impossible for a lone cyclist to ride on a main road safely. You're literally putting your trust in hundreds of people you don't know, most of who will find cyclists irritating. All it takes is an unqualified driver or a driver to put their foot on the wrong pedal and you're going to go flying off your bike at 30mph with cars speeding along. It'll be from behind, so it could literally happen at any time. That's why there should be more cycle lanes in my opinion, especially on main roads.
Learnt all this except the group aspects when i was eight years old.
This is the only method that should be taught and is what i learned as a child in a two day cycling proficiency course after school around the end of the 90’s at age 10 (yes i am that old)
There are some very dangerous new style techniques or whatever you want to call them out there.
I followed these rules and rode in the road with no helmet (stupidly), in 35mph zones in London and i am still here and have never had any problems.
I advice follow these steps and for the love of God 🥁 🥁 🥁 wear a helmet, i hate them because i dont look like a superstar cool dude like others do but i just suck it up and put it on anyway.
so riding with a group and you are the last rider in the intersection.. Whats the proacall? do you yell something?
Bicycles should be all banned from uk roads they are accidents waiting to happen times have changed the government should put a cycle safe lane on every road for bicycles
The video: to turn right stick your hand out to the right
Me: screaming in pain cause i broke my arm.. Ahhhhhh
The video: stick to the left side of the road
Me: bruh is the right
The video: ride safely
Me: more like die while riding a bike
This is the norm in Canada: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55Wb8exPj3o
How do you stop cars stalking you? I wave them on but they keep on coming at me until I stop completely.
This is why I generally ride alone along rural roads.
When was the last time you saw lycra cyclists going single file when a car gets behind them lol
Not one of those riders did a shoulder check before overtaking that parked car showing riders stopping for red light yer right
I'm just going to sum this up… PEOPLE IN CARS ARE AS*HOLES!!!
I think this will get my confidence up
does it make sense to stop at a red when no one is there tho?
Lol come in iraq and tell me if this works every time i go on rides I nearly get hit by a car and they don’t even apologize so I usually drive on the wrong side to see the cars coming or driving with the cars
Drivers should understand that they are not "Kings of The Road". Most of them want to squeeze 1m overtake rule to 1 cm overtake (at 2x higher speed). Police is sleeping ( – "what happened? … ahh OK.. but you are not injured, so its allright")
I was riding on the road with bright light on me and a car went by and someone threw a cup which hit me and came to find out it was full of urine.
Cyclist are the rudest bunch of people I’ve ever seen. 15 or so ganged up on a 12 mile curvy road long line of cars behind. Did they pull over at the places that would allow? NO. Bicycles should not be allowed to impede motorized traffic
I get going with traffic fir passing cars but that's it cars can from behind
1.fly by you without slowing down which can scare you or if its going fast enough pull you over
2. If a driver is drunk swerving and such you can't see it to avoid unless you just stare behind you for a long time not safe.
3.kinda like 2 just having to look behind you a lot of newer cyclists list to one direction when they do. Wonder how many accidents that's caused.
Here in bulgaria we are Slavic we basically smash riders
here after hitting by a car !
At 1.17, that's not how you indicate left on a bike!
Wow,i like it
A few year ago I stopped behind cars at a traffic lights seconds later a car ran into the back of my car at around 40 mph pushing me into the car in front. I was hospitalised for 7 weeks. Had it happened to a group of cyclist there would have been several deaths. Just saying. Who ever wrote these rule will have blood on their hand
I'm not a bike rider but shouldn't they pay rego & insurance like every other people??? Hey fair is fair ! Im not a latte sipping would be if they could be ??? Lol so show some respect!!!!!
I think its shit how they don't have to pay tax like every one on the road or insurance they damage you car and dont have to give a shit
What about roundabouts?
