Been loving my AL7 since its arrival but thinking of upgrading/changing the tyres and upping the width – looking for some advice.

I’m in Glasgow, Scotland so changing to Pirelli Cinturato Velo TLR tyres for the autumn/winter weather and more puncture protection (2 flats; 1 pinch & 1 tyre and inner) in two weeks.

I’m commuting twice a week circa 30/40km each day on cycle paths, tow paths and rough roads. Long spin on a weekend.

Currently I’ve the OEM Schwalbe One tyres (front: 30 mm, rear: 32 mm).

Going 32mm on both or 32/35mm, what’s the best set up and benefits or disadvantages?

Thanks in advance

  1. Weight distribution on a road/gravel bike (you don’t say if Endurace or Grizl, presumably the former giving small tyres) is approx. 55/45 rear/front, so running a tyre 2-3mm larger on the rear means you can run front and rear at approximately the same pressure, slightly simplifying checking. Moreover, you run a lower pressure tyre on the rear, where you need more cushioning and aerodynamics does not matter.
