  1. Is there any way to resolve this? Seems like something is bent. I truly have no clue. Obviously a beginner and just bought this bike today

  2. Likely that the derailleur was improperly adjusted. Park Tool’s YouTube channel has a great vid on how to adjust a derailleur. And probably a video on how to best get that chain out from behind the cassette.

  3. Might have to adjust your limit screws on the derailleur. Don’t let it get you down, mechanical issues are just a part of mountain biking. Learn how to work on bikes, Fix it up and keep shredding! Best of luck.

  4. Your high/low limit on derailleur are not set properly.
A quick hole search should give you a clearer picture.

Edit: auto corrected. A quick google search was meant.

Don’t worry. Give yourself a year and bike maintenance and adjustment will be as easy as Legos

Agree, it’s a Sport and hobby, you learn as you go, as your cycling skills improve, so will your bike maintenance & repair skills.

  7. I feel you there… seems like if you own a bike cheaper than 2k, this is life, even over 2k.. it’s just less but still all the time, it’s mechanical, and we abuse them, bound to happen!

  8. Frank above beans! It happens, just happened to a riding buddy last week…no cause found. Learn how to tune to avoid it, but no guarantees!

  9. In addition to what everyone else said, you should clean your jockey wheels. I use a flathead screwdriver to scrape the gunk off.

Your problem is you’ve got the bike upside down! Just flip it over and you’ll have much more fun!

  11. In 34 years of riding I’ve found that if everything’s adjusted correctly before a ride, very little goes wrong during the ride. Barring ‘offs’ (or debris damage)
There’s been the very odd exception. 😜

The one time the dork disc might have helped lol. You’re all good the derailleur just needs some adjustment.

  13. Try flipping your bike around. It rides much better on the tires than the handlebar and saddle.

(and fix the limit screw and check if you derailleur hanger isn’t bent)
