    Your rear axle broke. This is a design flaw on rear hubs that use freewheels. A freehub hub is more expensive but will distribute the load more evenly on the axle. A freewheel hub tends to put more load on one side, leading to bending or breaking

    Mechanic will have to replace the axle, remove all the cones and spacers from the axle and reinstall it. Might cost $30-40. They may also suggest a new wheel.

  2. Make sure the mechanic checks the dropouts to make sure they are parallel, or this will happen again fairly soon.

  3. Lmfao this happened to my friend. The fucking quick release mechanism was acting as the axel for the past 60 miles or so
