It could be anything from a loose cassette, loose freehub, loose bearings, shot bearings, a broken axel, or maybe something else I’ve forgotten to mention.

That is the different tolerance on the threads between the hub and freewheel, yours is kinda worse than most but it is fine.
Your derailleur hanger on the other hand, looks bent. Make sure you can’t shift into the spokes.

if it works the way its supposed to i wouldn’t worry about it. all free wheels do this to some extent, some are just more noticeable than others.

Modern freewheels/threaded hubs can have quite a bit of wobble or oscillation due to imprecise machining between the interfaces. It’s quite common, and you can also see it on a much lesser magnitude on inexpensive freehubs. Due to the distance between cogs on a 7/8 speed freewheel, it’s generally not going to have much impact on shifting.

I am thinking bent or broken axle but a teardown should reveal the problem, It looks like your cage is bent too.

How is the shifting? I see that much wobble on cheap Walmart bikes all the time and as long as the shifting is fine no one is changing anything that’s not broke.

I had something similar on my road bike and it was affecting shifting – turned out to be the rear hub needed replacing (which was the hardest bike job I’ve ever taken on). However as others stated could just need tightening up or replacing the cassette or something.
