Hi Mark – thank God you have emerged! Getting worried there for a while- Kierons bimbles are great- he's just put a new one out from Cark in Cumbria while he was on holiday with the family- his baby is sooooo cute bless her! Glad you are well mate- don't go missing again!! Love to the Mogs x🏴
Mark, it's unfortunate but Stockport has become the flashpoint to what is becoming a spreading battle here in many cities, between gangs of Muslims & British patriots, tagged 'far right thugs' by the Government, after 3 young girls were slain by a madman with a knife. This is becoming serious disorder, as pro Palestine marches have taken over the streets of central London every weekend for months now, without the police acting against them, even though they are packed with Islamist hate groups.
As a response many people are now responding in kind, but the police are much harder on those waving Union flags than Islamic ones. Starmer made it worse calling all Patriot protesters far right thugs'. He has really added fuel to the flames & we have near chaos rising in many places. It's very sad.
Hey, good music and memories. 👍 No worries on the contents. It turns up when it turns up.🙂
Peterloo massacre has been made into a film a few years ago. My car sickness always kicks in watching this type of stuff got to slow it down to X.5.
Yes said Macc alsfield.
Glad to see you back. Enjoyed this video too.
Hardly the bricklayers but the architects built in historic style, mostly recalling Roman or Norman permanence. They were proud of their work, it was felt worthy of styling well.
Anything of architectural value may be listed as worth preserving.
Just for a minute, i read the town name wrong 😢
There are several grades of listing in the UK. Grade 1 is top, Churches etc where little town no changes allowed. Grade 2 listed structures may get permission to alter slightly, but rarely to change appearance, some things, say statues, may be moved etc.
A building grade 2 cannot be altered externally, but internal things might change with specific permissions. Signposts & similar are at risk of thoughtless removal by developers etc. This is why an investigation must occur when any building, road or other works are planned, & the local authorities have to check for restrictions etc.
Greetings from Macclesfield Mark! If you pause at 4.52 you will see a sculpture of one of the cockleshell heroes (you did a video about them) It is actually where the 4 column tops were (if he had turned the camera around)
Oh, hello 👋🏻 I always think New York and similar aged cities in the North East have interesting buildings and architecture, which is quite similar to our Victorian style. On the other hand, I have recently watched a video about some iconic buildings in Hollywood that have been demolished, which I'm sure could have been saved for posterity (Would've loved to have seen Falcons Lair or The Cocoanut Grove at The Ambassador Hotel) Good to see you back, but so glad you were having fun! 🤗
Stockport's my home town (well, where I've spent most of my life) and there were a few things I didn't know amongst the places I did recognise. Rather surprisingly he missed Stockport Central Library – it's a Carnegie Library, though I'm not sure it's listed. The local council are spending a lot of money redeveloping the town centre, and Stockport is the source of the River Mersey.
Anything of architectural or historic interest.
You are are quite correct, Mark, to call the bricklayers or builders artists, they did, and still do, take a pride in their work! (FYI, any structure can be listed).
Mark as you probably realize we list everything. But by doing that we save so much of our heritage. Once listed they cannot be touched!!!!!
I'm one of your subscribers and this is my town, welcome.
