You can cycle from Finsbury Park in north London to Kentish Town, entirely on quiet streets and protected cycle lanes.
The route is 3.6km long (2.24 miles) and makes use of the the newly completed Cycleway 50 cycle lane, as well as a quiet route linking it to Kentish Town.

Looks good!
2:30 I live just off Isledon road, which you started on. And I can confirm the bike lane is very welcome but also so inconvenient to use locally.
As a commuting route
I commute on this whole video, and it's really kept improving over the last few months. It's super quick and efficient, and you mostly feel quite safe and separate from cars. But yes, when I return from work, it's not as convenient, and I've even been known to contra-flow the bike lane when I've felt particularly annoyed by it (which I don't condone, obviously).
As a local route
As you said, when I want to cycle to the shop on Seven Sisters Road (about 500m away) it's a 5 minute walk direct. But the legal bike journey is actually 7 minutes! It would be less than a minute if the cycle route was 2-way.
Thanks for the great vid!
FYI the bike barriers at the end of Cantelowes Road has changed a bit over the past few weeks. Originally there were two barriers but a third was added when the cycle route was setup. Now the third barrier has been removed but the no cycling red circles have been added. The route here is a bit of a bodge and needs some work to make it convenient for bikes while minimising disruption to pedestrians.
At least London has these LTNs. Out here in Herts there are few and far between and reliant on Herts CC doing proper protected cycling infrastructure. Their plan for Watford’s green loop is painfully slow with no expected target date to complete. Just a 10 year plan. In the mean time it’s about making do with what is there.
The east bound one way section of C50 approaching Finsbury Park is really wierd as it's on the right hand side of the road, so you are cycling with the traffic but on the opposite side to where you expect to be. My concern is drivers turning right will not be expecting to see people cycling on thier right hand side. The other problem with this route is there is nothing to get you under the railway at Finsbury Park and then into the park or to the quiet roads to the south of Finsbury Park station e.g heading east to say Clissold Park. I suspect the issue is it's a tight squeeze on road space, but dumping cyclists into heavy traffic is not good.
TfL have a consultation for C50 which closes in a few days, so if anyone viewing this thinks they may want to use this route, probably worth responding and asking for the temporary lanes to kept and upgraded:

Had me at "strange new cycleway"
🤙🏽⚡️🤟🏽
I"m very simple with routes, don't like takin a different route on return journey so not havin a cycle lane for the opposite direction unless you take a different route is sad 😪
Agree about motion detectin lights, needs a button too like you say.
I would love to a "behind the scenes" of how you plan, find, abandon and try different routes til you find the right one. I find route findin frustratin unless I spend aaages on google street view beforehand but sometimes you can't see enough.
It might be possible to squeeze in two way cycle lanes on both roads. The road space should be sufficient.
You cycle too considerately in my opinion. It's like a car wouldn't stop on the motorway to let a pedestrian go by.
How long does it take Citimapper to reflect these new routes? Is this one online in their app yet?
I still think it’s worth it to cycle on Camden Road up the hill instead of turning left onto Caledonian Road. The road is very wide and pretty safe. I just wish theyd incorporate a cycle lane there.
