  1. Yes, but the spider on the cranks ruins it; I’m a fan of oil slick and have bits on my road and gravel bike.

I think if you’re going to have a contrast colour on the crank then it should be direct mount

On a side note, is that the supacaz tape? If so how is it, I’m currently using pro (shimano) aurora which is no longer sold, supacaz is the closest match (aesthetically)

You need more oil slick, it needs to have a cohesive theme. Be that bottle cages, seat clamps, spacers etc.

The bits you’ve done are too small, so it doesn’t tie together.

I don’t hate the idea of it, but this one specifically looks cheap IMO, and the fact that the crank arms are the stock ones and don’t fit also doesn’t help. Also, I’d go either with a flashy chainring or something more subtle like a gold chain, not both. But that’s just my take

I’m biased cuz I have an oil slick ring on my cutthroat.. but I love it. They don’t always look good. There so a lot of other things I’d nitpick about that bike before the chainring haha

What year is that frame? I have thought about trying to get an allez disc frame to upgrade for fun to get into disc brake land. I don’t like the new colors though from what I e seen

The oil slick finish reminds me of cheap pocket knives you find for sale at gas stations and flea markets in the American South. Thus it it is inextricably linked to cheap junk in my mind. Also, it’s ugly.
