That Tokyo gold medal moment was a shame for the sport actually. What if the 12 finalists jump the first height on their first attempt, let's say 2.15, and then refuse to jump any further? They all share the gold medal? Ok. Not the 12 of them. What about 11? 10? How many would be acceptable then?
