Hi everyone, I saw it come across in the past, but I’m curious to hear a bit more success stories/advice on turning a bike with horizontal dropouts into a bike with gears? I read that I need to have the proper rear spacing, what is the proper spacing & how would I go about measuring it? Any rear wheel recommendations with gears? It’s set up as fixed gear right now, but I want to start doing longer commutes and would love some gears. This is my current rig:

130mm for road wheels and 135 mm for MTB. Also the rear dropout doesn’t have derailleur hanger. Internal geared hub like Nexus might be the easiest.
Most track bikes have 120 rear spacing, which means that the space between the rear dropouts is 120mm, so that’s how wide the wheel has to be. Most hubs manufactured today are wider by at least 10mm. This is an uphill battle with limited options, and it will not be cheap or elegant.
